The stars came out Friday night during the LA Film Festival’s Closing Night at the ArcLight Hollywood Cinerama Dome.
No, not those types of stars. I am talking about the incredible cast of the upcoming action-filled, psychological thriller, “Nomis.” Making his directorial debut, David Raymond joined a stellar cast that includes Sir Ben Kingsley, Henry Cavill, Alexandra Daddario, Minka Kelly, Nathan Fillion, Stanley Tucci, and others.
Friday night was a very special night not only for the “Nomis” cast, but for fans and other Film Festival participants as well. Before the world premiere movie screening, LA Film Festival award winners took to the red carpet to answer questions about their project, to take pictures in front of the backdrop, and to soak in all the glory of their achievement.
The award categories included Audience Award for Music Video, Web Episode Jury Award, Award for Short Fiction, Documentary Award, Nightfall Award, World Fiction Award, and many more.
Afterward, a select number of cast members from “Nomis” entered the carpet to follow suit. Mpho Koaho, who plays Glasgow in the upcoming film, was very energetic throughout the evening. Everyone wanted to talk to him and he wanted to talk to everyone. He explained his character in the movie and told audiences what they can expect from Glasgow.
“You can expect me to be on a computer, you can expect me to put my hands on the keyboard and type. You can expect me to hopefully save somebody? I think Glasgow would love to save somebody,” Koaho joked. “And then you can expect Glasgow to maybe have to save somebody…Was that redundant? He might have to save somebody, he might have to.”
Director David Raymond walked alongside “Baywatch” and “Texas Chainsaw” actress Alexandra Daddario on the carpet and met up with fellow cast members, Eliana Jones, and Sir Ben Kingsley, for a group photo.
“The actors in this film are incredible. Everyone was so supportive of each other. The crew was incredible. It was just a really positive experience,” added Daddario as she was stepping off the carpet.
Additionally, Raymond commented on the many lessons he learned while directing “Nomis” and feels a sense of relief now that the movie is completely finished.
“One of the big ones (lessons) is allowing your actor’s space and breath to act. When you allow yourself the confidence to sit back and allow them to breathe, they just blew me away. Especially Henry. Half of your brain is always on the next thing, which is probably to your own detriment, but I am, to be honest, just happy to finally be showing people the film. I am very proud of it. The cast has done an amazing job," said Raymond.
After the frame-worthy group photo, the cast hurried inside the ArcLight Theatre, where the LA Film Festival crew greeted and directed them to their seats. At last, the “Nomis” cast was able to see their long days of hard work come together on one giant screen.
“Nomis” premiered on Sept.28.
